I get an error when trying to export to Excel file. What can I do? |

Usually, the error occurs because anti-virus programs block the «Excel sheet copy» operation. For instance, in Kaspersky AV you should configure Kaspersky Office Guard to permit this operation.
Another reason for the error could be improperly configured XLS-template of the report. |

How do I assign a stock number to a hardware unit? |

To assign a stock number to a unit: open the device’s detailed information form and enter the number è on the “Accounting Information” tab. Please note: you can assign a stock number only to a device, the type of which allows such procedure. Permissions for assigning a stock number are configured in the hardware type table. |

What is IMS Editor? |

IMS Editor is a program included into Harwdare Inspector that allows you to edit all of the program’s text messages including menus and others. Originally designed for localization of the program for other countries, the editor can be used for configuring the program’s interface to your personal style. |

Can I use this program for keeping records of not just the computer hardware? |

Certainly you can. Just make sure the data structure is similar to the provided in the program. The interface can be configured using the built-in IMS Editor. Read the program’s manual for more on this subject. |

An error occurs when I use the program. What should I do? |
|
| |
|
For such cases, the program has a special error processor that generates error reports into the ERR-files. We will be grateful to you if you e-mail all such files appeared on your computer to our address. After analyzing the files, the error will be fixed. It is recommended that you select the extended error processing in the program’s settings; the extended error processor provides more detailed information on the occurring errors than does the standard error processor. |

I have lost the operator’s password. What should I do? |

Ask an operator with the “Administrator” access privileges to change your password. If the administrator’s password is lost – alas. There is a partial solution for the problem though: contact our technical support. |

The hierarchy of devices on the tree is defined by a link from each device to its parent (placeholder), which is configured in the device’s detailed information (or when entering a new device). |

Due to a power outage, my database got damaged. What should I do now? |
|

We understand the importance of preserving the integrity of data; therefore we have provided you with three tools for restoring the lost information. Nevertheless, you cannot neglect the necessity of making backups. So, if you think the data is damaged – start the DB re-indexation function. If this does not help – start the DB recovery function. If this does not help either – create a new database and import data from the damaged database into the new one. If none of the above has helped – contact our technical support service. |

Why don’t you create your own software agents for acquiring information on the computers’ configuration instead of having us to import reports from the AIDA32 and ASTRA programs? |

The matter is that to generate the maximum accurate information on the hardware, it is not enough to simply read the hardware’s information, although even that task is not that simple. It requires maintaining an own hardware database that involves great expenses. For instance, AIDA32’s database contains description of over 22 thousand models of hardware. In our opinion, it is better to rather use the reports from an available and well-known program, which allows obtaining the maximum accurate and detailed information on hardware devices. This seems also true when we consider some western inventory software’s efforts to “catch two barneys with one hand”. As a result, their analyzers are not so stable in performance, the quality of the retrieved information leaves wide areas for improvement, and their users are the ones who struggle because of that. |

How can I keep records of consumables? |
|
| |
|
For that purpose, you may create a new hardware type called “Consumables”. Then, you may permit including that type into groups: e.g., printers and copiers. This will allow “inserting” cartridges into printers and copiers. To the service types’ reference you may add the type “Refill” and reflect all refills of the cartridge in its maintenance history. Thus, all the refill works will be reflected in the “Maintenance Performed” report automatically. |

Do I lose my data when I change the program version? |
|
| |
|
Your data will not be lost. Only the demo DB will be recorded on top of it. All settings and databases that you have created will remain intact. When changing the database format, the program will offer you to convert the data format.
For better assurance, we recommend that you make backup copies of your data on a regular basis. |

I have edited the template, but the changes do not appear in the report (when I select "Print" and "Preview"). |

Changes in XLS-templates are reflected only in the reports being exported to MS Excel (the button "Export").
By the way, you are discouraged to change the templates named DEFAULT.XLS since they will be rewritten when you install the renewed version of the program. Instead, you should create new templates based on the standard ones and then make necessary changes in them. |
